Hare Matar Ki Dal Recipe is a very delicious Dal recipe. It is an authentic and traditional Dal preparation. You have already relished the taste of Green Peas sabzi, matar pulao or other delicious pea recipe. Now i am telling you how to make delicious Peas dal.

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Green Pea — 1 cup
  • Chopped Onion — 1 large
  • Finely Chopped — 2 medium sized
  • Chopped Green Chilies — 3-4 nos.
  • Garlic — 5-6 nos.
  • Chopped Ginger — 1/2 tbsp
  • Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves — 1 tbsp
  • Oil — 3-4 tbsp
  • Rai — 1/2 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds — 1/2 tbsp
  • Asafoetida Powder or Hing — 1/4 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder or Haldi — !/2 tbsp
  • Red Chili Powder — 1/2 tbsp
  • Garam Masala Powder — 1/2 tbsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Dry Mango Powder — 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Tadka: ————
  • Ghee — 2 tbsp
  • Dry Red Chilies — 2-3 nos.
  • Cumin Seeds — 1/2 tbsp

Instructions:

  • In a grinder, add green chilies, garlic and ginger, make a fine paste and keep aside.
  • Now add fresh green pea in a grinder and make a coarse paste. Do not grind into a fine paste.
  • Heat 3-4 tbsp of oil in a pressure cooker on medium flame, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and hing, mix well.
  • Now add onions and fry until Onions become light brown in color or fry for 5-6 min.
  • Now add turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Now add green chili, ginger and garlic paste, cook it for 2 mins.
  • Add tomatoes and cook until tomatoes become soft and mushy.
  • Add salt as per taste and mix well.
  • Cook it for 5-6 mins and it has become mushy.
  • Now add red chili powder, coriander powder and garam masala Powder, mix well and cook for 2-3 min.
  • Now add coarse paste of peas and mix well, cook it for 4-5 min.
  • Add 2 cups of water.
  • Close the cooker, cook until a single whistle. Then turn off flame and keep aside pressure cooker.
  • Once the pressure escapes, dal is cooked and ready. 
  • Put the pressure cooker back on heat and add dry mango powder.
  • For Tadka:———
  • Heat 1-tbsp of Ghee for tadka and add dry red chilies and cumin seeds, slightly roast it.
  • Turn off flame and pour the tadka over the dal and mix it.
  • Garnish dal with some green coriander leaves. 
  • Hare Matar ki Dal can be relished with Steamed Rice or Rotis.
