Chilas are delicious pancakes unique to the desert province of Rajasthan. A delicious and quick breakfast recipe made with a besan flour and Indian spices. Stuffed chilas recipe is very easy to make and also consumes very less time to prepare. Cheela is made with less oil and can be served as a good breakfast recipe.

  • For The Mixed Stuffing Sprout:—
  • Boiled Mixed Sprouts (red chana and moong) – 1 cup
  • Butter – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Seed or Jeera – 1/2 tbsp
  • Finally Chopped Green Chillies – 1 tbsp
  • Finally Chopped Onion – 1/4 cup
  • Chopped Tomato – 1/2 cup
  • Chaat Masala – 2 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Finally Chopped Coriander Leaves – 2 tbsp
  • For The Chilla Batter:—
  • Besan – 1 cup
  • Hing a pinch
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tbsp
  • Ginger Chilli Paste – 1 tbsp


  • For making mixed sprout stuff:—-
  • Heat the butter in a pan on medium flame, add the cumin seeds.
  • When the cumin seeds crackle, add the green chillies and onions, fry for 1 minute.
  • Add the tomatoes and mix well, cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add the mixed sprouts, chaat masala and salt, mix well.
  • Cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Add the coriander and mix well, keep aside.
  • For making batter solution:—
  • In a big bowl, add besan flour, hing, turmeric powder and salt, mix well.
  • Now add 1¼ cups of water and mix well to make a thin batter of pouring consistency and keep aside.
  • Heat a heavy-bottomed pan on a medium flame.
  • When hot, add a few drops of oil to it and swirl to coat all sides of the pan.
  • Now pour a ladle full of batter onto the pan and lightly use the ladle to spread the batter into a circular shape from the center outwards, make a circle of diameter roughly 4-5″.
  • Drizzle with a little oil and lift the edges of the cheela to allow oil to go under it.
  • Flip now and cook it till the other side turns little golden brown.
  • Place one portion of the stuffing on one half of the chila and fold it to make a semi-circle.
  • Serve immediately.
