Bottle Gourd / Lauki / Calabash Gourd / White Flower Gourd / Doodhi / Dudhi / Ghiya

Bottle gourds are one of the favorite vegetables of Indians. It has a light green smooth skin and a white inner flesh. It has numerous healthy benefits. They are especially good for old aged peoples. It is full of fiber, minerals and water. Bottle gourd helps fight many small problems keeping you healthy. The water and fiber in the bottle gourd make the digestive system free and active. Bottle gourd helps to treat urinary tract infection. Lauki can be combined with dal and spices to make lauki Kootu. It can also be stir fried with onion, garlic and tomatoes to make a semi dry subzi that will go well with phulkas etc. Use grated bottle gourd to make kofta, curries, muthias and the famous Doodhi Halwa.
